About Adam Michlin
Adam Michlin began his career with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Santa Cruz, California where he additionally
studied clarinet with Mark Brandenburg. Working for many years as a professional woodwind doubler based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he has performed with a wide array of organizations
including the Monterey Symphony, the California Symphony and the American Musical Theatre, San Jose as well as artists such as Melissa Manchester, John Pizzarelli, and The Manhattan Transfer. His work as a copyist and editor has been
published by Victor Morosco/Morsax Music and Phil Woods/Musique DuBois and he is currently editing for publication the
unpublished wind and orchestral works of Alan Shulman.
Receiving his primary instrumental training through private study with woodwind virtuoso Victor Morosco, his research involves studying and applying the
playing and teaching techniques of renowned instrumentalists and teachers such as Joseph Allard, Daniel Bonade, Vincent Abato, Saul Goodman, Edward Powell, Julius Baker and Edward Treutel in public school teaching situations. Receiving his Masters of Arts in Music Composition
from California State University, Hayward while studying with Jeffrey Miller in 2005, his work as a composer has been directed towards
writing pedagogical music for young players and ensembles. He currently serves
as the Director of Orchestras at Barron Collier High School and Naples High
School in Naples, Florida. |
